I put the spars away after the trial fitting of a tank and got out the ribs and had mostly finished all the prep work on the ribs when I decided to alter my build order. As I did with the Sonex, I have mostly followed the manual on build order but have made many minor and not so minor reordering of the build steps to suit me.

I never had a problem doing that on the Sonex and so far have had no problems with the 14. I have no problem with Van’s suggested build order but I do have space constraints for building and storage. I decide that I would have real storage problems if I built up both wing frames before starting on the leading edges.

I also decided that my plan to cut the table in half prior to the start of building the fuselage would not hinder but would in fact help building the rest of the wings.  So I decided I would build the leading edges first (they are much easier to store temporarily) but would split the table prior to starting them.

I simple cut the top down the middle while it was still attached to the table and did the same for the shelf. Then I started to add the additional framing and legs required for the new table prior to cutting it in half.
