The piece in the first two pictures is one of the control arms. It connects the two sticks together and rotates in two bearings to provide the pitch control. It needs to be installed now because once the skin goes on, it can’t go in without cutting large holes in the sides. Some bearing have been attached in the last two pictures to each end for mounting the sticks. The sticks can then rotate left or right in those bearings to provide roll control.
