Here is another picture of the bucking bar and its use when putting the second skin on. The second skin already has the rib halves back riveted on. Note that the bucking bar is raised about an eighth of an inch so that you don’t crease the bend for the wedge. After riveting the rib halves to each other with blind rivets you insert the forward spar and rivet it to the skins with the squeezer. You then have a substantially completed elevator ready for the final work. |
