Some pre-assembly is required on each elevator to up drill some holes etc. In the second picture you can see one of the foam ribs in position. It will be glued in place later.

The second picture also shows a feature unique to the 14’s elevators. Unlike the rudder and all the other control surfaces on Vans aircraft that use a wedge, the trailing edge wedge does not come to a point but actually gets wider. The skins from Vans come with the needed bends preformed so you don’t need to make the bend to accommodate the wedge, but it does call for some different assembly techniques.
Another item very familiar to me from my Sonex build is to attach the trim tab hinge segments. The hinge pieces do not come pre-punched so you have to align and drill them. Very simple after all the similar hinge work on the Sonex.
